Gomel: Then & Now >> News and Updates

June 1, 2003 For the past couple of years, revisions have been limited to semi-annual updates of CyberGomel with new member profiles and minor alterations to other site components. Several other Gomel-related websites created by current residents of the city have been created, making further continuous updates to this site less pressing and necessary. "Gomel:Then&Now" remains one of the most comprehensive sources on Gomel in English. Most of the site's content and images remain unique as well.

Other relevant notes:

  • Affiliations with RBCMP3.Com and KNIGA.Com have been disabled due to lack of interest and lack of purchases made through the site. The affiliation with Amazon.Com has been kept. In over 3 years, less than $10.00 toward donation to the Red Cross in Belarus has been generated by visitor's purchases at Amazon. Please help increase this amount and generate a more substantial donation. You can do so by purchasing Belarus-related items through Gomel-Market and/or by clicking on the Amazon button on the main page and making any purchases at Amazon.Com.
  • The section Images of Belarus now contains only maps of Belarus. The images of nature previously there have been removed due to their unfortunate poor reproduction quality. Hopefully, in time they will be replaced with photos of better quality.
  • Some efforts are made to maintain the Links section free of dead URLs. Visitors' help in pinpointing dead links will be appreciated.

December 2000Through affiliation with RbcMp3.Com, and Kniga.Com,and In Association with Amazon.coma percentage of purchases generated by the website will now be donated to the Red Cross in Belarus. Please help increase these donations!!

July - August 2000 Extensive updates:

January 1999 Thanks to a generous offer from the folks at Namtek, who host a number of other city-sites, Gomel: Then & Now moves to http://gomel.lk.net.

A bit of ancient history... Since its founding in 1997 this site has moved three times and has lived through a myriad of transformations and reincarnations. It once included a Russian version which eventually had to be recycled for the sake of a better English version and due to lack of time necessary to adequately maintain a bilingual website. In its current state the site is by no means exhaustive, but it represents most of the Gomel-related resources available to me.
